Raleigh Pools

Kurt Candler was born in Columbia S.C. When he was three, his family moved to Raleigh
N.C. and he has been a Raleigh native up to the present. Kurt attended N.C. State university as a
student athlete in swimming and diving, specializing in diving. During his career he was an ACC
conference champion in 1989 three-meter diving and two-time ACC conference MVP for diving.
Kurt also participated in two NCAA national swimming and diving championships. He graduated
with a Batchelor of Arts degree in Business Management from N.C. State University. Kurt grew up in
the pool business with his family owning two commercial pool training complexes for swimming
and diving “The Candler Swim Clubs”.

In 1993 Kurt started his own business in the pool “service and maintenance” business. In
1997 Kurt completed testing and acquired his General Contractors license. The business
continues to grow to 45 employees strong in 2009. The next 3 years proved very turbulent through
the recession and the company was forced to downsize and restructure but inevitably persevered
through the storm of the great recession. Raleigh Pools LLC. focuses on concrete pool construction
with 70% of our revenues coming from commercial projects and 30% from residential projects.
Some of the commercial amenity sites have also included erecting clubhouses. Some notable
projects have been completing two of the areas first roof top pools (one in downtown Raleigh NC
and one in Chapel Hill NC). Another is a high-end residential project completed in 2023 was
featured in Watershape magazine. Kurt currently serves as the North Carolina Chapter President of
the PHTA. Kurt is married to his wife Angela and has four daughters. Kurt’s hobbies include snow
skiing, surfing, deep sea fishing and spear diving.
